Sisters. A conversation between two sites

Two “unruly paintings” are cut from the same cloth and made following the same protocol. One sister painting is placed at each site (The Glass Tank Gallery and Modern Art Oxford) to embody the differences between and variations in their respective environments. Unruly, the paintings relay visually both the constant submission of bodies to outside forces such as the atmospheric pressure and their ability to adapt to them.

The combination of silk and humidity indicator creates a hyperreactive surface that will vary from black to dark green, from green to bright turquoise, and will fluctuate in the distribution of its molecules. The quantity of water in the air will be reflected continually in the colours as well as the crystallization patterns of the exhibited surface. The surface change becomes visible throughout the day; slowly but continually, the silk adapts to the ever-changing environment. The paintings are never the same twice.
